How to take care of/maintain your clothes?

Taking care of your clothes is within everyone's reach. All you need to do is follow a simple and universal principle: read the label first.

How to maintain a garment?

While the label provides essential information such as recommended materials and cleaning methods, it doesn't tell the whole story. To take care of your belongings, whether it's a suit or an accessory , a few tips can be helpful.

Taking care of each piece

An outfit involves several pieces, and each of them must be properly maintained for a complete, neat look, whether casual or business . Without it, you could look sloppy. The shirt, knitwear (insert link), pants , blazer jacket , coats and even accessories need attention to last over time and maintain their impeccable appearance.

Pay attention to the label

The label provides the necessary information for garment care, using pictograms and informative texts. The vat specifies the preferred washing method, whether machine or hand. The triangle provides information on bleaching, the iron indicates whether ironing is allowed or not, the square concerns flat drying, machine drying or line drying, while the circle refers to professional cleaning. For a suit as for a shirt , always remember to check the label.

Taking care of accessories

The expression "The devil is in the details" takes on its full meaning with accessories. They shouldn't be overlooked because they add the finishing touch to an outfit. Ties, like pocket squares or scarves , need to be cared for like any other textile. Choose a cold hand wash, then let them air dry to avoid damaging the fibers. Depending on the material, dry cleaning may be required. A wrinkle-free tie on a suit guarantees elegance.

Care tips: how to keep your clothes longer?

Taking care of your clothes helps preserve their longevity, both for your wallet and the environment. To do this, just a few tips can help extend their lifespan.

Choose dry cleaning for your clothes

Rather than risk damaging them with the washing machine, improper rinsing, or even improper ironing, choose dry cleaning to clean your clothes. Suits, in particular, cannot withstand conventional washing. To preserve them, follow the instructions in our specific suit care guide.

Store your clothes in the right place

While you should take care of your clothes while you're wearing them, proper care and storage are crucial to protecting them while they're in your closet. We sometimes tend to wash or treat our clothes too aggressively: don't hesitate to air them out and use a steamer instead of an iron when the garment lends itself to it. Finally, store them in a space away from heat and humidity.

To take care of all your clothes, be sure to read the care label to give them the attention they deserve. This way, you'll keep them looking good for longer.
